Where to Stay in Rhodes in October: How We Chose the Best Areas and Hotels

Where to stay in Rhodes in October – that’s exactly what we asked ourselves before planning our autumn getaway. Booking a holiday in Rhodes in October can be especially appealing; but which places are actually worth visiting that time of year? And how do you find the right accommodation when many towns are already shifting into low season? In this article, we’ll show you how we planned our trip, which towns we compared, and why Lindos and Rhodes Town became our top choices.

Where to stay in Rhodes in October: Which areas are still worth visiting?

Not every part of Rhodes is a good fit for a holiday in late October. Many towns are quiet or nearly deserted. Restaurants and shops often close by mid-month. We didn’t want to end up in an empty resort. At the same time, we were looking for beautiful beaches and interesting places to explore.

What we were looking for in a location

  • Open restaurants, cafés, and shops
  • Ideally a sandy beach (many beaches on Rhodes are pebbly)
  • Attractive surroundings with places to visit
  • A bit of life in the evenings

Which places made it onto our shortlist?

We compared several towns and created a quick table to keep track of the most relevant options:

Comparison: These are the places we considered for our October trip to Rhodes

This overview helped us a lot. It quickly became clear that many smaller towns were not ideal for our travel dates in the last two weeks of October. In the end, three places made the final cut:

Lindos

A stunning town with narrow whitewashed alleys, scenic views, and several sandy beaches. Perfect for the beginning of the trip when the weather is still warm.

Faliraki

A classic beach resort with a long sandy beach, plenty of hotels and restaurants, and good transport links. However, many businesses shut down in the second half of October.

Rhodes Town

The island’s capital is lively all year round. It features a beautiful old town, many shops and restaurants, and plenty to do even if the weather turns cooler.

Booking a holiday to Rhodes: Why we chose Lindos and Rhodes Town

We decided to split our trip into two parts. We’ll spend the first week in Lindos and the second week in Rhodes Town.

Why this plan works well for us

  • In Lindos, we hope to enjoy warm beach weather in the first week
  • Rhodes Town offers plenty to do even if the weather turns cooler
  • The two places are about 45 minutes apart, so switching locations makes sense

We’re following a similar approach to our last autumn trip to Cyprus. Back then, we stayed in just two locations: Ayia Napa and Paphos, and explored the surrounding areas from there.

We’ll do the same in Rhodes. The island isn’t that big, and most places are reachable within a reasonable driving time. From Rhodes Town, for example, we’re planning a day trip by boat to the island of Symi*. Other trips will depend on how easy it is to get to certain sights. We want to visit the island’s highlights* flexibly and without stress.

Our Accommodation in Lindos

Finding the right place to stay in Lindos wasn’t easy at first. Since the town is known to be very picturesque, we wanted to stay in or near the old town. So, we created a comparison table of suitable hotels and holiday apartments.

We only included options with sea views and balconies. We also considered price, apartment size, and reviews.

Hotel comparison for Lindos (as of June 2025) – These were the options we considered / Rating (B / G) = Booking.com / Google

In the end, we chose Thea Villas and Suite*. It’s located between the beach and the old town, offers sea views, and provides plenty of space with its 90 square meters.

Why we chose this place:

  • Excellent reviews
  • Quiet location within short walking distance to both the beach and the town center
  • Great value for the price

Our Hotel in Rhodes Town

We also compared several hotels in Rhodes Town. The main decision was whether to stay in the Old Town or the New Town. The historic Old Town has many small hotels and guesthouses, while the New Town is home to larger hotel complexes. We only included hotels with balconies in our comparison.

Hotel comparison in Rhodes Town – as of June 2025

For the second week, we booked two rooms at the Cactus Hotel – a double room and a suite with 40 square meters and a sea view. The hotel is close to Elli Beach and also within walking distance of the Old Town.

Why we chose this place:

  • The suite offers great comfort and an amazing view
  • The hotel includes a pool and breakfast
  • Perfect location between beach and Old Town

Conclusion: Where to stay in Rhodes in October – Our planning tips

If you’re thinking about visiting Rhodes in October, we recommend combining beach and city life. Choosing the right place to stay is key to avoiding areas that feel too empty in the off-season. We decided to spend one week in Lindos and one week in Rhodes Town, hoping to make the most of both the mild autumn weather and the city vibe.

When comparing hotels, we didn’t just look at price and reviews. Location, room size, and overall atmosphere also played a big role. In the end, that made the decision easier. Whether this plan actually works out, we’ll see once we’re there – but for now, it already feels like the right choice.

You’ll find out soon how well our plan turned out. We’ll share our full experience here on the blog after the trip.
